Have you ever had one of those moments where you just feel frumpy, ugly, and just one of those days where you hope you don't see anybody. Well this was the day. This was a morning that I let me hair air dry (which is something that I rarely do). I hate to air dry my hair because it always dries in some crazy way, and is really frizzy. I don't know about the rest of you, but unfortunately I also suffer from adult acne. It is worse now than when I was in highschool. Anyway, I have some break out right on my chin for the whole world to see, and I am looking as lovely as ever. It is about 10:00 in the morning, and I decide to throw a load of laundry in the washer, as I am doing that my house alarm starts blarring. I can't figure out why it is going off. As I walk over to turn it off, it all of a sudden stops by itself. I turn around to finish the laundry it starts going off again. This time I hurry and punch in the security code and turn it off. I hear Mckayla say something, and I realize that Seth is no where down stairs, and that he has made his way upstairs and found my key pad for the alarm system, and is punching away at the buttons on key pad, thus the turning on/off of the alarm. I yell to Mckayla telling her to take away whatever Seth has in his hands and put it up high. A few minutes later I get a phone call on my house phone, and it is a 1-800 number. Do you know how many calls I get in one day that are these 1-800 numbers. I never answer them, because if they are really important, I figure they will leave a message. Usually when my alarm goes off ADT will call and make sure everything is all right, but the number when they call usually will says ADT. So when I see the 1-800 number I thought it is not ADT because it just has 1-800 and nothing else. So I let it go into voicemail, and nobody leaves a message. A few minutes later I recieve another call, but this time it says County Sherriff. Oh Great!!!! I pick up, and they ask who they are speaking with, and want to know if everything is all right. I explain to them what has happened and apologize for bothering them. The lady sounded a little annoyed, and I was feeling completely stupid. The lady proceeds to tell me because ADT called and got no answer, they sent a police officer out and that I will have to speak with him, and let him know that everything is ok. Do you all remember the description I gave of myself up above, I am so not wanting to deal with all this, this morning. Oh by the way my kids are still running around in pajamas. I know I was looking like the worst mother in the WORLD! The door bell rings, here we go- maybe the police officer will call in for back-up when he sees such a horrible sight. So, I show up at the door with the culprit (Seth) in hand and I explain to the officer what happened. He is super nice and looks at Seth and says, "Is this the little guy right here" I confirmed that he was indeed the offender. Seth has officially had his first run-in with the law. Fortunately, this one is not a punishable offense. The officer just smiles and tells me it is ok, and that it happens all the time. What a morning!!
