Buna Buna!!
Hey yall!! I survived my first week in Romania wahooo!! This week has somehow been so busy, yet not, and so fast, yet so slow all at the same time. We love mission life. Haha.
Alright here's a day-by-day recap
Tuesday: Prepped to give a phone call lesson to our friend we called on Sunday. Sora Olsen and I planned during personal and comp study and had a fire lesson plan. We called her and she picked up! For about two seconds. She goes hello! And we said hi! And she hung up. Then she wouldn't answer at all. RIP. We did get to talk to some cool girls on the bus though and got contacts for one of them so that was sick! We also had English class, but I wasn't much help lol. After English we were waiting for the bus and this lady was by us and I felt like we should talk to her. I started the convo 😬 and then luckily Sora Olsen saved me when I couldn't talk anymore. We talked with her the whole bus ride and then we were able to give her a BoM!!
Wednesday: It was so awesome. We were on the bus again and this old lady came and sat across from us. She reaked of cigarettes and like no teeth, but I decided to try to talk to her. We talked for a bit (I understood basically nothing). But I asked if she believed in God and Jesus Christ and she did so I shared the Book of Mormon with her and was able to give her a copy!! Idk if anything will come of it, but it was exciting to give my first one away by myself!!
Later that day we also met a girl named Roxanna. She was so sweet and spoke English (yes!!!!) So I actually could participate in the conversation. What was sad though is that she wasn't religious, but had so many questions that we literally had the answers too. We tried to share our testimonies and doctrine but she kept brushing them aside. We were able to leave our number with her though, so maybe she'll reach out sometime.
Thursday: So fun!! We went to the park to find some friends! It was amazing! We handed out 3 Books of Mormon and two were interested in coming to church as well! It was amazing because I can't do much with the language, but I was prompted to talk to all these people. It give me confidence to continue to follow these promptings even though it's scary. The last lady was super cool too, her name is Elena and she had us come sit with her on her bench and we talked for about 30-45 minutes. She was so funny! I could only understand about 65% of what she was saying, but she was so animated when she talked and it was hilarious. She also agreed to meet with us again, so hopefully this Thursday we get to talk again. She also decided to give us directions home, and since both of us have only been in Craiova a week, we were like sure let's go. Well we get on the bus she told us to take and after about 15 minutes we realized we had no clue where we were. We then had to get off that bus and walk to catch a different one to get home. We walked up to the stop just in time to see our bus go. So we then had to wait 20 minutes for the next one to come... needless to say we got home a little late that night.
Friday: We had some spring cleaning to do so we did that for most of the day, and then some media work. We also had game night and it was a blast. Sora Olsen and I crushed at Settlers of Cantan.
Saturday: Went to the Church after lunch to do some calls (scary!!), and then some media work. After that we did language study and got dinner. SHOARMA!!! I'm literally obsessed you guys have no idea. Then it was fun we watched General conference and had some friends and members come.
Sunday: General conference all day!! We went to the Church to watch the Saturday afternoon session and it was amazing!!! Had some more friends show up and had snacks and it was just a party. Then we did some meetings and studying, then we headed home. At home we made dinner and watched more conference wahoo!!
Food updates: the cereal here for some reason is so good. I can't stop eating it. We also got some paprika chips? They are actually pretty good. Other than that though the food here is just pretty bland, and I'm missing my Tapitio. But we're surviving.
This week has been hard, not going to lie. I am so tired and there have definitely already been times where I wanted to quit. But it has been so amazing to the Lord's hand in my life every single day.
Spiritual Thought:
Conference was amazing and encourage everyone to go and study all the talks (that's on my personal study plan for the week).
As whole I really loved that this conference was so centered on Christ, his atonement and how he wants to help us. I just want to add my testimony to all those shared this weekend. I know Jesus Christ lives. I know he loves us. I know that he died for us and atoned for our sins. I know that because of this I am able to become better each day. I know through Christ that can one day become perfect. I know that when I feel discouraged, when life gets hard, and when I don't want to keep going, Christ is right there with me. He knows me and my experiences perfectly and is just waiting for me to reach out so he can help. I'm thankful for this help that I have experienced in my life. I am grateful for the this knowledge that I have and the opportunity I have to share it with the people of Romania.
I hope you all have a great week and are able to remember the Savior and his sacrifice, specifically this Easter Sunday.
Va iubesc!!!
