Summer reading club!!

So I signed my kids up in the summer reading/listening club at the library for the summer. Mckayla has to read 10 books and then she can go into the library and spin a wheel for a prize, and Isaiah has to listen to 10 books and then he can spin the wheel. Well their crazy mother mis read the instructions, and thought Mckayla had to read 10 books, 50 pages each. We have been working diligently to get this accomplished, and finally Mckay read her 500 pages. I am so proud! We go into the library and realize that she only has to read 10 books, the 50 pg. thing is only for someone reading a large book, and every 50 pgs. they can count as a book. I feel a little stupid! Mckayla had her chance finally at the big wheel, and it landed on an ice cream cone at Dairy Queen.
Here she is enjoying all her hard work. Isaiah is enjoying one as well.

Family night ice cream

For family night we decided to go for ice cream after our lesson. We were not sure where to go as we are still getting to know some of the area. So we took a little stroll down Hudson Ohio, and came across Hersey ice cream. We stopped and had some yummy stuff. Whenever we talk about ice cream now, Isaiah always tells me he wants to go here, so he can get the superman ice cream (pretty much like a rainbow sherbert).

Drive-in

On a friday night in June we decided to go to a Midway Drive-in Theater. We saw the movie "Up". We had such a great time as a family. We have decided that the drive-in is the way to go. It cost much cheaper, and we can all snuggle in as a family. The kids thought it was great, and were really excited to do something new. We were not sure what to do with Seth, as it was way past his bedtime, but it worked out perfectly. We got all the kids ready for bed, and fed Seth his bottle. We all piled in the car, and by the time we got to the movie, Seth was out cold, and slept the whole time in his car seat. It was great!!

Oh where, oh where have Isaiah's flip flops gone?

Who can spot Isaiah's flip flops in this picture? On Memorial Day we went to a ward picnic, where Isaiah had his flip flops on. When we came home I distinctly remembered he had them on his feet and wore them home. As soon as we got home they disappeared. I asked Isaiah a million times where they are, his reponse, "I don't know mom". I have personally searched the house over and over again trying to remember exactly what he did when he came home. Seriously, I have searched and searched for 3 days trying to think of every place they could possibly be. I finally resorted to praying about it. This is what I should of done in the very beginning. I kept telling myself to say a little prayer, but instead I just continued looking thinking they would surely turn up somewhere. My only fear was that possibly Seth had put them in the garbage and they had been thrown away. A few hours after I said my prayer, I heard Mckayla say, "guess what mom, we found Isaiah's flip flops". Of course I was curious to find where they have been hiding.

Can you see them now? This would be little Seth's doing. Do you know how many times I have gone past the high chair. Do you know how many times I feed Seth a day, and did not see them. The silliest thing about it is, I saw Seth put them in there, and I told myself to remember that he did that. It must be old age kicking in, because I really have no other excuse why for the life of me I could not remember that I had seen him put them in there. All I can say is thank goodness for prayer.

Summer Fun!

We were at the store today, and the kids wanted something fun to do. They saw one of those huge inflatable water slides, and wanted to get one of those. I said no, because we were already have one that our friends gave us last year, but we are waiting for them to give us the blower that goes with it. So I talked the kids in settling for a slip n slide. It was really quite comical watching them figure out how to do it. Mckayla figured it out, but Isaiah is still learning. He would run, and then stop expecting to slide. The times he did slide is when he slipped. He will figure it out soon enough. The kids had a great time.

Mckayla's Preschool Graduation!

Mckayla is off to kindergarten next year. She has finished her preschool years.(sniff, sniff) Her preschool had a little graduation for all the little ones moving on. It was cute. They sang a few songs, and then they passed out a diploma to each kid. Mrs. Jean was Mckayla's teacher, and I couldn't say enough good things about her. She is a fabulous preschool teacher. Isaiah will go to her next year as well. One of Mckayla's wishes in moving this year, was that I get her into a preschool. I finally found one, and I am so glad I did. Mckayla has loved every second of attending there. She is now off to bigger and better adventures. Kindergarten here we come!

Seth's first run-in with the Law!!

Have you ever had one of those moments where you just feel frumpy, ugly, and just one of those days where you hope you don't see anybody. Well this was the day. This was a morning that I let me hair air dry (which is something that I rarely do). I hate to air dry my hair because it always dries in some crazy way, and is really frizzy. I don't know about the rest of you, but unfortunately I also suffer from adult acne. It is worse now than when I was in highschool. Anyway, I have some break out right on my chin for the whole world to see, and I am looking as lovely as ever. It is about 10:00 in the morning, and I decide to throw a load of laundry in the washer, as I am doing that my house alarm starts blarring. I can't figure out why it is going off. As I walk over to turn it off, it all of a sudden stops by itself. I turn around to finish the laundry it starts going off again. This time I hurry and punch in the security code and turn it off. I hear Mckayla say something, and I realize that Seth is no where down stairs, and that he has made his way upstairs and found my key pad for the alarm system, and is punching away at the buttons on key pad, thus the turning on/off of the alarm. I yell to Mckayla telling her to take away whatever Seth has in his hands and put it up high. A few minutes later I get a phone call on my house phone, and it is a 1-800 number. Do you know how many calls I get in one day that are these 1-800 numbers. I never answer them, because if they are really important, I figure they will leave a message. Usually when my alarm goes off ADT will call and make sure everything is all right, but the number when they call usually will says ADT. So when I see the 1-800 number I thought it is not ADT because it just has 1-800 and nothing else. So I let it go into voicemail, and nobody leaves a message. A few minutes later I recieve another call, but this time it says County Sherriff. Oh Great!!!! I pick up, and they ask who they are speaking with, and want to know if everything is all right. I explain to them what has happened and apologize for bothering them. The lady sounded a little annoyed, and I was feeling completely stupid. The lady proceeds to tell me because ADT called and got no answer, they sent a police officer out and that I will have to speak with him, and let him know that everything is ok. Do you all remember the description I gave of myself up above, I am so not wanting to deal with all this, this morning. Oh by the way my kids are still running around in pajamas. I know I was looking like the worst mother in the WORLD! The door bell rings, here we go- maybe the police officer will call in for back-up when he sees such a horrible sight. So, I show up at the door with the culprit (Seth) in hand and I explain to the officer what happened. He is super nice and looks at Seth and says, "Is this the little guy right here" I confirmed that he was indeed the offender. Seth has officially had his first run-in with the law. Fortunately, this one is not a punishable offense. The officer just smiles and tells me it is ok, and that it happens all the time. What a morning!!
